Maisie Williams Opens Up About Game Of Thrones Ending
Maisie Williams has been open about how popular HBO series ‘Game of Thrones‘ did not have a good ending.
The final six episodes, which were broadcast in 2019, divide viewers after the show’s early seasons received widespread praise.
The actress, who gained popularity for her role as Arya Stark, revealed she had recently re-watched the series with her brother. She also talked about watching the show as a spectator.
“You know, I rewatched it all recently. It definitely fell off at the end.”
However, the actress went on to say that she believed that Thrones had an extremely great beginning, continued, “But it started really strong. I was heartbroken when Ned died, and I knew it was coming. For the first time, I could really feel the story.”
Williams isn’t the first Game of Thrones star to openly discuss the controversial finale of the series. The actor who played spymaster Varys, Conleth Hill, has expressed his displeasure with the way his character was portrayed in the later seasons.
“That’s been my feeling the last couple seasons, that my character became more peripheral, that they concentrated on others more,” he said in 2019. “That’s fine. It’s the nature of a multi-character show. It was kind of frustrating.”
Actor Peter Dinklage, who plays Tyrion Lannister, has been more supportive of the last season while downplaying criticism from the audience. In an interview he said, “They wanted the pretty white people to ride off into the sunset together. By the way, it’s fiction. There’s dragons in it. Move on.”
The Black Queen, the season one finale of House of the Dragon’s sister programme, debuted this past weekend, days after it had been leaked online.
