Meryl Streep Calls Harvey Weinstein’s Use Of Her Words “Exploitive”

Meryl Streep released a statement on Wednesday saying that Weinstein’s use of her words in his legal defense “as evidence that he was not abusive with many OTHER women is pathetic and exploitive”.

Weinstein’s lawyers had told the court to dismiss the lawsuits from six women adding that the “alleged” assault happened a long time ago. The lawyers also included comments where Streep said that she and Weinstein had a relationship devoid of sexual exploitation.

In her statement, she noted:

“The criminal actions he is accused of conducting on the bodies of these women are his responsibility, and if there is any justice left in the system he will pay for them- regardless of how many good movies, made by many good people, Harvey was lucky enough to have acquired or financed”.
