Success is never achieved in isolation. This fact, has underscored the great success of Nigerian music artist known as Oxlade, born Ikuforiji Olaitan Abdulrahman, signed to Troniq Music record label. If numbers are truly the measure of any substantial success, the union between the artist and the record label has been nothing but a truly fruitful experience.

Since Oxlade and Troniq Music sealed their partnership, some years ago it has been smooth-sailing for the couple. While the artist has been concerning himself with the creative part of the union, churning out good music, incessantly and frequently, the label has provided the platform to oil the wheel of the artist’s growth, not only locally but internationally as well.

Troniq Music is well poised as an outfit to give any artist a springboard to success as it is strategically situated in two entertainment hubs of the world, having offices in both Lagos and New York. It was a nucleus of an idea nurtured by a music personality named Godfrey Eguakun, who had a vision of ironing out raw musical talents out of its grittiest ore of nothingness.

In a chat with our reporter, Eguakun gave a hint of how it was in the beginning and the very yearning that led to him founding Troniq.

“I’ve always had a thing for music. It started off playing instruments with the intention to delve into music at some point but I guess I found other ways to do that. I consider myself a musician, so whenever I hear good music, I’m compelled by my own interest to support it and push it,” he began.

“For me, anything worth doing is worth doing well, so with the thought that if Afrobeat can become a global brand, TRONIQ music can dominate and become the global leading force in the industry, having watched other companies do it from the ground up. Companies like Quality Control based in Atlanta, who I’ve always admired – I saw them grow; from signing Migos, The City Girls, Lil Baby, and others, they evolved from an Atlanta business to a global company competing with the majors,” he added.

While Troniq Music might not as yet consider itself a powerhouse, it has set its vision on lofty heights, and it appears Oxlade has come handy as the trump card. Their vision, from onset, according to Eguakun, is to scale up globally, with a view to propeling their new signees to global platforms.

Troniq Music has done right by itself as a record label behind Oxlade. The artist has gone platinum, gold, and silver in several regions of the world. But Troniq Music would not claim absolute rights to this profound success, rather they are quick to point out various factors they have employed and deployed, not only with respect to Oxlade but to all their signees.

“These results are due to a lot of collaborative work with people, companies, freelancers, and a lot of other factors. Personally, I think no success in a creative space is the work of one person, so for us, we had a lot of help from more established partners holding our hands, and guiding us through the intricacies of running the business.

Also, we work with the best hands in making the music, and we were fortunate enough to have the best hands through our artist development process. I will associate the success we have attained up to this point with people because, without people, we would not have been able to do it.

We have a partnership with Epic Records, with Sony, and they have been super helpful. In total, we have 5 artists and are in talks with others. With Oxlade with whom we’ve been working on a major project, we would still continue for a long time,” Eguakun asserted.
