If you are looking to shake up your kitchen routine, try the Jambalaya rice. Jambalaya is one of the most loved fried rice meals in the world. The spices explode in your mouth, leaving you asking for a second and third serving.

Cooking this dish in a pot seals in all the flavours and aromas. Traditionally, Jambalaya only requires white rice, green pepper, onion, celery, and pork. Adding sausages, shrimp, and eggs can make yours more special and bring a new depth of flavour to a dish we already love. Whether you are cooking for your family or hosting a casual get-together, this meal is a fantastic option that is sure to please.

Ingredients

  • Pre-cooked rice
  • Eggs
  • Vegetables (onions, garlic, and bell peppers)
  • Shrimp (or your choice of protein like chicken or sausage)
  • Spices (cayenne pepper, paprika, or a Cajun-style blend)
  • Seasoning cubes and salt
  • Cooking oil
  • Spring onions (for garnish)

Instruction

  • Heat your oil in a pan and add your chopped onions, garlic, and bell peppers. Cook until they are soft and smelling great.
  • Toss in your shrimp and any other protein you are using, and cook until they are nicely browned. Stir in your cayenne pepper, paprika, and other spices so the flavours coat everything evenly.
  • Add your pre-cooked rice to the pan. Stir it well over medium heat until every grain is covered in that delicious spice mix.
  • Push the rice to the side of the pan to make a small space in the middle. Pour in your whisked eggs, let them set for a moment, and then gently fold them into the rice.
  • Keep stirring until the eggs are fully cooked. Take it off the heat, sprinkle with chopped spring onions, and enjoy.
