The eagerly awaited announcement took place on Tuesday night during a special appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! The 57-year-old actor, best known for his iconic role as neurosurgeon Derek “McDreamy” Shepherd on Grey’s Anatomy, now claims this coveted title, succeeding the reign of Chris Evans.

Dempsey’s charisma and charm have placed him on the radar for quite some time, earning him a spot among the contenders for Sexiest Man Alive. His stint on Grey’s Anatomy, where he portrayed the heartthrob Dr. Shepherd, as well as his roles in the Enchanted film series and Bridget Jones’s Baby, certainly contributed to his allure.
