The Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) has announced its headliners at the 2018 FIFA World Cup Opening Ceremony in Russia.

Music icon, Robbie Williams and Russian soprano, Aida Garifullina, will be joined by Ronaldo Luís Nazário de Lima to grace the opening ceremony inLuzhniki Stadium, Moscow. The World Cup will kick off with a Russia and Saudi Arabia match on the 14th of June.

Ronaldo who has expressed excitement at the selection told FIFA

“I’m so happy and excited to be going back to Russia for such a unique performance. I’ve done a lot in my career, and opening the FIFA World Cup to 80,000 football fans in the stadium and many millions all over the world is a boyhood dream,” says Robbie Williams. “We’d like to invite football and music fans to party with us in Russia, in the stadium, or to tune in their TVs a little earlier for an unforgettable show.”

At this year’s ceremony, the artistes will perform 30 minutes before the start of the game.

The FIFA World Cup will kick off with a match between Russia and Saudi Arabia on the 14th of June by 4 pm (WAT).
