Sponge Cake: Simple And Easy Guide On Baking It.

Sponge Cake

Tired of the strenuous mixing of the normal cake? you can try the sponge cake. This cake is easy to make and it does not take time.

4 eggs

1.5 cup powdered sugar 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar = 1 cup granulated sugar

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking powder

3 Tablespoon melted butter

2 Tablespoon hot water

1 Tablespoon  vanilla extract

Sift the flour and baking powder three times to ensure there are no lumps in it. Lumps can affect the quality of the cake.

Melt the butter in a small pan over low heat.

Leave the butter to cool.

Separate the egg whites and yolks. Beat egg whites until they become white and frothy.

Add sugar little by little and continue beating until sugar dissolves. Ensure the sugar totally dissolves and cannot be felt or seen in the egg.

Next add the egg yolks and beat about 5 minutes.

After adding the egg yolks, add in the dry ingredients (flour, baking powder), melted butter, and vanilla.

Mix well using a rubber or a wooden one spatula, any spatula that is available or easy for you to use can be used.

Pour the sponge cake batter into an 11-inch round pan that has been greased with butter and floured. Greasing the pan with butter and flour ensures the cake does not stick to the pan when it is done baking, it also prevents burning of the cake.

Preheat oven to 180 degrees, the heat must be regulated, and bake the cake for 30 minutes.

The cake is ready when you can lightly press on it with your finger and it bounces back. (you can also use a bread knife or a toothpick, insert in the center of the cake, if it  comes out clean, then it is baked)

Remove the cake from the oven and let cool.

Enjoy your Fluffy Sponge Cake.
