These Five Homemade Toners Will Help You Combat Oily Skin

When it comes to skin care, there are some important steps like cleansing, toning and moisturizing that should not be skipped. Other steps like exfoliating and masking are equally important but not required on a daily basis. If you are battling with oily skin, cleansing and moisturizing might seem like the most important steps yet toning should never be overlooked.

Toners are not only crucial for restoring the natural pH level of your skin after cleansing but they also help to soak up excess oil from your skin. They shrink pores, and get rid of any remaining impurity or leftover makeup from your skin which is a total plus. These days, there are many ready-made toners out there but sadly they are often loaded up with synthetic chemicals that ruin your flawless skin in the long run. With the aid of a few items in your kitchen, you can DIY your own natural toner.

Below are five DIY homemade toners you should try.

1. Apple Cider Vinegar

When it comes to skin and hair problems, apple cider vinegar is easily your best bet when it comes to natural solutions. Not only does the vinegar helps balance the pH of your skin, but the enzymes present in it help prevent further breakouts.

How To Use:
Mix 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar in 1 cup of water.
Immerse a cotton pad in the solution and then wipe your face with it.

2. Aloe Vera

Also known as the miracle plant, the aloe has a lot of benefits for the skin and hair. It helps in the regeneration of skin while shielding it against pathogens.
How To Use:
Slice an aloe vera leaf and scoop out the gel.
Dilute 2 tbsp of the gel with 1 cup of cool water.
Apply the solution to your face using a cotton pad.
3. Cucumbers

Cucumbers serve well as natural toners, especially for oily skin. Cucumbers are also rich in vitamins A and C and essential minerals, which give a healthy boost to your skin.
How To Use:
Take 2/3rds of a fresh cucumber and chop it up into small pieces.
Pour a cup of water into a pan and add the chopped cucumber.
Heat the pan for about 8 minutes until the water starts to boil.
Blend the cucumber and water.
Let it cool and then filter the juice out using a sieve.

Apply this toner onto your face using a cotton pad.

4. Green Tea

Green tea contains antioxidants found which help tighten pores and get rid of toxins from your skin.
How To Use:
Brew a cup of green tea and let it cool.

Use the tea as a toner after every wash

5. Rose water and ACV

Rose water can also be used in conjunction with apple cider vinegar to make a DIY toner. The vinegar helps normalize the pH of your skin. The rose water works as a mild hydrating agent and also soothes irritated skin. The anti-inflammatory rose water can also be used to get rid of puffiness under your eyes.
How To Use:
Pour 2 tablespoons of rose water into a spray bottle. You can either buy it from the market or make your own at home.
Add 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar.
Fix back the pump of the bottle and shake well to mix the two ingredients.
Use the DIY 1 or 2 times every day after cleansing your face to keep oily skin in check.
