For most people, Abuja only comes to mind in discussions of business, politics, ministries and all the serious topics that concern this great country. However, the capital is more than that, there are a lot of interesting and fun places to visit and activities to do. From the numerous parks to golf courses, Abuja is slowly changing the narrative of being a boring city.

Arts and crafts village

Located in the heart of Abuja, opposite Silverbird Mall and with Sheraton Hotel as its backdrop, the arts and crafts village is an exciting attraction in Abuja. The arts and crafts village gives tourists the opportunity to see and buy some of Nigeria’s finest art pieces which reflects the culture of the people.

Millennium Park

Millennium Park is located at Maitaima district and is perfect for picnics, leisurely strolls, events and so much more. The best thing, entry into this beautiful park is free. The park is properly maintained and taken care of and this helps to preserve the beauty and greenery of the park.

Usuma Dam

Usuma Dam is located in the Northwest district of Abuja and is a picturesque dam and lake. It can be accessed through Ushafa village and is said to be the fifth largest dam in the world. It is also great for hiking, picnics and breath-taking photo shoots.

Magicland Amusement Park

Formerly known as Wonderland Amusement Park, Magicland is Abuja’s equivalent to Disneyland and one place you must visit when in Abuja. The amusement park boasts a variety of rides and activities for kids and adults. 

National Children’s Park And Zoo

The park and zoo is located in Asokoro. The zoo has several animals like camels, crocodiles, ostriches, baboons and more. Asides the zoo, there is also a lake, outdoor café and children play area.

Jabi Lake

Jabi Lake is located in the Jabi area of Abuja and is perfect for sports and picnics. The lake is usually used for water sports. Visitors visit Jabi Lake to take in the serenity and have leisurely strolls. The peace and quiet of this park really captures the spirit of the city and is a definite visit for first-time tourists. 

IBB Golf Course

The IBB golf course is beautiful with a spectacular ambiance. The golf course has 18 holes and it hosts golf tournaments and various lovers of golf. Whether you are a golf expert or not, you should visit the IBB gold course when next you’re in Abuja.
