Dangote, Otedola, Adenuga, Rabiu listed among world billionaires

Four Nigerian businessmen have been named in the latest Forbes Real-Time Billionaires ranking released on Saturday.

Heading the list is Aliko Dangote, with a fortune of $24.4bn, placing him at number 88 globally. He remains far ahead of other Nigerians on the chart.

Abdulsamad Rabiu, chairman of BUA Group, follows with an estimated $7.2bn at number 516, while Globacom and Conoil boss Mike Adenuga sits at number 592 with $6.3bn. Billionaire investor Femi Otedola makes the cut at number 2,424 with $1.5bn.

The figures show Dangote’s wealth is more than three times Rabiu’s, nearly four times Adenuga’s and over 16 times Otedola’s, underscoring his dominance as Africa’s richest man.

Dangote first entered the Forbes billionaires list in 2008. After briefly dropping off, he returned in 2011 and has maintained the title of Africa’s wealthiest man for 14 consecutive years.

His fortune stems from cement, sugar, and most recently, a refinery project launched in 2023.

Alongside him, Rabiu has grown his empire through cement and sugar, Adenuga has sustained fortunes in telecommunications and oil, while Otedola, whose investments cut across energy and power, returns to the list after some years away.
