Funke Akindele, a Nigerian actress, who ran for the position of deputy governor of Lagos State under the ticket of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), took down all her political posts on Monday morning after she and PDP governorship candidate Adediran Olajide lost the election on Saturday to Babjide Sanwo-Olu of the All Progressives Congress (APC). Her Instagram page currently simply portrays her as a well-known movie star, not as a woman with ‘political ambition’, as would be implied. The famous actress says it was an amazing and insightful experience and does not regret taking the huge step. She also appreciated everyone who believed in her and supported her dreams.

DJ Cuppy has bagged a Master’s degree
Florence Otedola, also known as DJ Cuppy, the daughter of billionaire Femi Otedola, has graduated from the University of Oxford, England, in the United Kingdom. The famous DJ made a post on Instagram of herself with her fiancé, Ryan Taylor, her mother, Nana, and her father, with the caption, “I’m a Third Degree Hotter! Oxford University Msc Done!!! #CuppyOnAMission.” On Twitter, DJ Cuppy also expressed how proud she was of herself, though she did not get a merit or a distinction and, after a tough year, she is now a ‘graduate’. “Got my thesis result, which classifies my MSc degree…”

Prime Video’s ‘Gangs of Lagos’ Launches Soon
The streaming platform, Prime Video, announced its first original African film on Monday. It is titled, ‘Gangs of Lagos’. The film will be launched on April 7, 2023, in Nigeria and other countries. The director of the movie, Jáde Osiberu, said, ‘Gangs of Lagos’ is a high-stakes, gritty, and hard-hitting action crime-thriller with an authentic storyline centred on a group of childhood friends, who each, have to navigate destiny. Starring Tobi Bakre, Adesua Etomi-Wellington, Chike Osebuka, Chioma Chukwuka, and Iyabo Ojo. It is the first Nigerian original to launch on Prime Video and is a global cultural moment that marks the beginning of a new era in storytelling.
