Jumping rope is one of the oldest and most popular forms of exercise. For many people, it all started as a childhood game or one of the sports during physical education classes. If you haven’t picked up a jump rope since that time or you probably think it’s just for kids, here are some reasons why it might be the best exercise for you.

  • Calorie Burner

Not many exercises burn calories as much as the jump rope. Research has shown that jumping rope at a moderate pace can burn 10-16 calories in a minute. Imagine what a 20-minute workout routine could do?

Other sources also say that a 1o-minute skipping rope routine could be compared to running an 8-minute mile.

  • Builds Agility and Sharpens Reflexes

The jump rope is an activity that focuses a lot of the legs especially the tip of the toes–for lifting and landing. Continual jump rope exercises can help with balance, agility and sharpened reflexes. The mind focuses on your feet for an extended period of time without your notice making it one of the routine activities for professional boxers.

  • Affordability

Of all the workout equipment one can acquire, it doesn’t get much cheaper than a jump rope. Standard professional jump ropes are more expensive but are still cheap in comparison with other equipment in their range.

  • Portability

This is as easy and self-explanatory as it sounds. You can take your jump rope with you anywhere at any time. Other workout equipment might become an inconvenience to move around especially on short notice but with the jump rope, you’re guaranteed to have a good work out.
