Mauritius’s Phare International Film Festival And The Cannes Partner

Mauritius’s Phare International Film Festival and the Cannes World Film Festival have made an official announcement on their partnership.

This monthly and annual hybrid festival attracts emerging talents and stars worldwide and will provide unprecedented promotion for Mauritian filmmakers.

The partnership will enable local Mauritian directors and writers to have their films screened during CWFF’s events at the Cineum Cannes, a futuristic building of 9,400 m2 with 12 state-of-the-art screens and the new temple of cinema in Cannes.

The partnership will also provide a unique opportunity for Mauritius’s top film creators to reach new audiences overseas, allowing more film industry insiders to learn about Mauritius’s independent cinema.

The founder of CWFF, Karolina Bomba, stated that independent cinema and cultural dialogue across borders are essential in supporting the new generation of creators.

The Phare International Film Festival promotes local filmmakers and brings local and international filmmakers together every December on the luxurious island of Mauritius.

The partnership with the Cannes World Film Festival will provide an incredible platform for Mauritius’s filmmakers to reach new people and extend their reach beyond Mauritius.

The collaboration will also include reduced or free entry, education, and exclusive film screenings.

The Mauritius Film Development Corporation fully supports the Phare International Film Festival initiative for promoting local talent internationally, and Director Vikram Jootun believes that the collaboration will bring the local film industry to another level and showcase the talents and expertise of Mauritian filmmakers.
