Around eight in 10 women will experience some form of mental health illnesses such as clinical depression, anxiety, drug abuse and postpartum depression in their lifetime.
Thus, renowned psychiatrist and therapist, Dr. Maymunah Yusuf-Kadiri, is set to hold her maiden mental health conference to educate women on these issues.
The event, which is themed, ‘The Mind Behind the Mask’, will chart a realistic course towards creating awareness and educating the public on mental health issues. It will also review the recently passed Mental Health Bill.
The event will hold on March 19, 2023, at the Oriental Hotel Ballroom, Victoria Island, Lagos. According to the Yusuf-Kadiri, “we have a collective responsibility as a people to lend our voices and extend our influences towards creating a safe and harmonious community for women and people in general.”
The event will feature panel sessions with notable key industry leaders and mental health ambassadors, an on-site therapy session (Lounge) with licenced therapists and psychiatrists, an intensive mental health assessment test, an on-site medical consultation with licenced medical professionals, an award for non-governmental organisations that have made impactful strides with the awareness for mental health and individuals who have thrived and triumphed.
