‘627 delegates to elect PDP’s Ondo governorship candidate’
• Ex-deputy governor, Ebiseni, five others eye ticket
• Ewhrudjakpo heads electoral committee as party warns thugs to steer clear of venue
No fewer than 627 delegates will elect the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) tomorrow, April 25, ahead of the November governorship election in Ondo State.
The seven aspirants seeking to clinch the ticket of the party include former Deputy Governor of the state, Agboola Ajayi; Secretary-General of Afenifere, Sola Ebiseni; Bamidele Akingboye, Adeolu Akinwumi, John Ola Mafo, Bosun Arebuwa and Kolade Akinjo.
Publicity Secretary of the party in the state, Kennedy Peretei, said that the Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State, Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, is chairman of the seven-man committee that would conduct the primaries.
He said: “The Ondo State People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Governorship Primary Election, scheduled for Thursday, April 25, 2024, will be conducted by a seven-man primary election committee, headed by Bayelsa State Deputy Governor, Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo.
“Seven aspirants were cleared by the Senator Sam Egwu screening committee to participate in the primary election.
“The International Culture and Events Centre (The Dome), Akure, is the venue for the exercise. A total of 627 delegates from the 18 local councils of the state are expected to elect the standard bearer of the party for the November 16, 2024, governorship election.
“Accreditation of delegates will commence at 10:00 a.m. All those who are not delegated or have no business at the venue are advised to keep a reasonable distance from the arena.”
