Yinka-Aluko-401x330Former Sports Minister, Malam Bolaji Abdulahi and PDP Deputy Governorship candidate in Kwara, Alhaji Yinka Aluko, on Saturday described 2015 general elections as peaceful and unprecedented in Nigeria history.

Abdullahi and Aluko, in separate interviews with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ilorin after casting their votes at the Governorship and House of Assembly elections, said the elections had been successful and peaceful.

The former Minister said that the 2015 general elections were the first time the people of Nigeria were able to show that power belongs to them.

He said the elections had established the fact that power can also be changed through the ballot.

“Now it will be impossible for any government to take the people for granted, in the past, people used to be afraid of government, reverse is the case now,” Abdullahi said.

According to Aluko, the 2015 elections have exposed the people to the fact that electorate has the power to effect a change of government in the country.

He said, more than ever before, Nigerians have realised the power in their votes and that they are the real custodians of power.

Aluko said that the uniqueness of the 2015 general election was that government in power would now be afraid of the people and live up to their expectations.
