AbdulRazaq meets monarchs, sets security agenda for Kwara

Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has pledged a more robust security strategy for the state as he met with first-class traditional rulers to chart a collaborative path for safeguarding lives and property across communities.

The high-level meeting, held on Tuesday, focused on socioeconomic development and security challenges, with the Governor revealing a new multi-agency approach aimed at tackling the growing threat posed by cross-border criminal elements, particularly those fleeing military operations around Kainji National Park.

Governor AbdulRazaq emphasised the importance of grassroots collaboration, noting that the state has now approved a more active role for local actors in its security architecture. He called on traditional rulers to deepen engagement within their domains and help prevent infiltration by criminal networks.

“We thank you for what you have been doing. And we need Your Royal Highnesses to talk to our people on the efforts all of us must make to protect our communities from being infiltrated,” the Governor said.

He further appealed for stronger support for security agencies, urging community leaders to provide timely and actionable intelligence to aid ongoing efforts at securing the state.

Vice Chairman of the Kwara State Council of Chiefs and Etsu Patigi, Alhaji Ibrahim Umar Bologi II, commended the Governor for what he described as a clear and detailed briefing on current challenges and solutions.
“We will always support your administration as you are doing a good job,” the Etsu assured.

The meeting reflects a growing recognition of the role traditional institutions can play in Nigeria’s security landscape, especially as state governments seek to strengthen local defences against threats spilling over from neighbouring regions.
