A group known as Abia State Sports Men and Women in the Diaspora has pleaded with all sons and daughters of the state to throw their weight behind Labour Party’s candidate, Dr. Alex Otti, in Saturday’s governorship election.

Spokesperson of the group, Torti Ogbonnaya, told The Guardian, yesterday, that the decision to stand with Otti was taken after a careful deliberation and comparison of all manifestoes presented by candidates seeking to become the state’s governor in the March 11 election.

Ogbonnaya said: “We, Abia State Sports Men and Women members in the Diaspora, had to go with Otti, because he has good plans for sports in the state.
“Dr. Otti has a good sports background, and he has huge plans for sports-based youth development, which has been lacking for over two decades in the state.

“He has also promised to build sports facilities in the state. We urge all Abians to go out on Saturday and vote for Otti and other Labour Party candidates, to make his plans become a reality.

“We have to take Abia back, and with our votes, Otti and other Labour Party candidates, the state would be a great state to be reckoned with.”
