
The Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adeniyi and the Managing Director of Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Muhammadu Bello-Koko, among other stakeholders in the maritime sector would this year bag the Association of Maritime Journalists of Nigeria (AMJON) award.
President of AMJON, Paul Ogbuokiri, said the conference and awards, slated for Dec 14, in Lagos, would feature awards presentations to deserving Nigerians and organisations that have excelled in their duties as well made impacts in the industry.
He said the event’s theme ‘Rebuilding Nigeria’s Economy Towards Viable Transborder Trade’, will have the Customs CG declare the event open and speak on the topic ‘The Future and Prospect of the Nigeria/Benin Customs Transborder Trade Agreement, among other notable speakers.
Chairman of the planning committee, Innocent Orok, said the association is holding the event at a critical moment in national history to further inspire the heads of the government agencies in the sector to work in tandem with the performance bond they signed with the government.
According to him, for the Nigerian ailing economy to rebound, government agencies, stakeholders and the public must be properly sensitised to key into the vision of the President Bola Tinubu-led administration.
