A 16-year-old Adetutu Osoba, has been awarded a scholarship by the Personal Assistant to President Bola Tinubu on Special Duties, Kamorudeen Yusuf, for her outstanding performance in the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
Adetutu, an indigene of Ado-Odo Ota Local Government Area in Ogun State, scored an aggregate of 309 in the recent UTME.
Yusuf, who has pledged to sponsor Adetutu’s university education, noted that he was inspired by her devotion to studies and sacrifices.
In addition to the scholarship, Yusuf has also paid for her hostel and school fees at a popular fashion academy in Lagos, where she aims to polish her tailoring skills before gaining admission.
Adetutu, who had previously scored 265 in the UTME 2024, narrowly missed admission to the University of Lagos (UNILAG). Determined to secure a spot this year, she applied herself diligently to her studies and achieved her remarkable score.
Speaking on her result, Adetutu said, “Firstly, God did it and secondly, I was self-motivated to do more this year because I didn’t gain admission into UNILAG in 2024. This motivated me to do more.”
Adetutu expressed gratitude to Yusuf for his kind gesture, promising to make him proud.
“It was very, very unexpected because being in this part of the world, where no one remembers people without the right connections and influence, to be in the limelight is so very wonderful.
“We are really grateful for the kind gestures shown by my benefactor, Mr Yusuf, who has promised to sponsor my education and I want to assure him that he’s not going to regret it because I’m going to make him proud and proud and proud.”
On her success nuggets, she advised other young people to work, plan, and pray and also believe in themselves. “You should know that you can always do better. Nothing is impossible for you.”
Her parents, particularly her mother, Mrs. Temitope Osoba, a petty trader, also commended Yusuf’s generosity.
In recent times, Yusuf has supported exceptional students. Last week, he awarded a scholarship to 16-year-old Sodiq Shoyode, who scored 360 in the UTME, and funded his admission into a top digital academy to learn Full Stack Development.
