Again, Danjuma advises Nigerians to defend themselves against bandits
Former Defence Minister, Gen. Theophilus Y. Danjuma (rtd.), has again, urged Nigerians not to depend on the government for the protection of lives and property.
He spoke, yesterday, during the coronation and presentation of the Staff of the Office to the Aku-Uka of Wukari, Manu Ishaku Adda Ali Matakhitswen in Wukari Local Council of Taraba State
Danjuma said that the present Federal Government has been overpowered by the bandits, who are terrorising the country.
He said: “Our country is under siege by armed bandits. A few years ago, I warned that the Armed Forces were either not capable or unwilling to protect us and that we should defend ourselves, the first denial came from the Defence Ministry, which set up a kangaroo panel and invited me to come and testify.
“ Now, there is evidence, the whole country is overrun and these foreign invaders are not even Muslims. Many casualties are Muslims. They were allowed to come into the country by the government.”
While admitting that the best way of defending is to “attack,” he said: “It is sad that the reverse is the case. Right now, we are all sitting ducks.”
He continued: “These people are armed to their teeth with weapons of mass destruction. We have the numbers and the land belongs to us. They are trying to colonise us and take over our lands…
“I will not give you arms. Go out and find out how they got theirs. Use the same means to acquire arms to defend yourselves.
“This beautiful land called Nigeria is being brought to ruins by absolutely useless criminals.
“My prayer is that God Almighty that gave us this land, should give us the courage to face these enemies and chase them away.”
Danjuma urged the monarch to unite the people to present a common and united force to defend themselves against invaders, who are bent on taking over the peoples’ lands, “otherwise Nigeria is finished.”
