THE Akwa Ibom State Government has commended the four host communities of Aka Offot Industrial Estate/Banking Layout for embracing the truce brokered by government aimed at industrialisation and sustainable development of the estate.

The Executive Chairman, Akwa Ibom Investment Corporation (AKICORP), Dr. Elijah Akpan, gave the commendation at the weekend when youth leaders from the four communities, under the aegis of Coalition of Youth Leaders Forum, visited him in Uyo.

AKICORP had, earlier in the year, signed a peace treaty with the communities, including Aka Offot, Itiam Ikot Ebia, Nung Oku and Afaha Ikot Obio
Nkan in Uyo and Ibesikpo Asutan local councils of the state.

Akpan said he was particularly touched by their gesture and expressed the optimism that, since the aim of their visit was to thank government for the concerted efforts put in to bring about the needed peace in the industrial area, the peace so brokered would stand the test of time.
