The Alaafin’s Palace has officially responded to circulating rumours regarding the appointment of a new Chief Imam for Oyo town.
In a statement, the palace urged the public to disregard unfounded speculations that have been circulating within the community.
According to the Director of Media and Publicity to the Alaafin, Mr. Bode Durojaiye, no candidate has yet been chosen for the prestigious position.
The selection process is currently ongoing and involves thorough consultations to ensure the right choice is made.
The Alaafin and Paramount Ruler of the Oyo Kingdom reassured the people that the process is being handled with utmost care and respect for tradition. He also emphasised that the appointment of the Chief Imam is an exclusive right reserved solely for the Alaafin himself.
The palace called on the good people of Oyo and members of the public to remain peaceful and patient while the rightful candidate is selected through the due process.
