Amid the prevailing hardships in the country, Governor Bala Mohammed has presented multi-million exotic Sports Utility Vehicles (SUVs) to six first class emirs in Bauchi State.

Bauchi, according to the 2021/2022 Nigeria Multidimensional Poverty Index, houses 5.7 million of residents multidimensionally poor. The state came behind Kano (10.51m); Kaduna (8.04m); Katsina (6.92m); Sokoto (5.81m); Jigawa (5.76m); Bauchi (5.71m), with Akwa Ibom (5.08m), from the south.

The governor, at an expanded security stakeholders meeting on the #EndBadGovernance protest, had acknowledged the level of hunger and anger, faulting the Federal Government’s economic policies and accusing President Bola Tinubu of failing to address the grievances of the protesting youths.

He further accused the Federal Government of worsening the hardship being faced by Nigerians, stating: “It is not working, and he (President) should review his policies.”

While sharing the new GMC Yukon valued at over N91 million each, the governor said the new vehicles would facilitate better monitoring and improve the safety of communities, pledging to modernise the palaces of the traditional rulers, and ensure their well-being.

“The gift of these vehicles will ease traffic, and enhance the traditional rulers’ capacity to support our efforts in safeguarding lives and property,” Mohammed said.
