A chieftain of the ruling All progressives Congress (APC), Ugwumba Uche Nwosu has expressed concern over the plight of the citizenry in Imo state due to the ongoing strike action by the organised labour in Imo state.

Speaking to reporters in Abuja, he disclosed that it was unfortunate that the decision to cut electricity supply has a devastating effects on the downtrodden in the state.

Calling on the organised labour to call off the strike action in the interest of the people of the state, he faulted the notions held in certain quarters that the state has been grounded completely.

“The best way is the resolve the crises amicably. Labour should return to the round table because they have to look at the plight of the ordinary masses in the state. Most of them rely on electricity to remain business.

“You don’t expect the woman who is into hairdressing or selling of ice fish to run her business on generators. Same applies to our youths who rely on electricity to run their barbing salons. This strike is affecting our people and that is not in the interest of the same people they are suppose to protect their interests.”

Nwosu who aspired for the governorship of Imo state in the 2019 general election assured that Governor Hope Uzodinma would sweep the poll notwithstanding the strike action by the organised labour.

He also faulted the notions held in certain quarters that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is not in support of the second term aspiration of Governor Uzodinma.

“People can afford to say whatever they like. President Tinubu is a committed APC leader and would do anything possible to support the candidate of his party. He is very much with our governor whatever anybody would say whether he is from north east , north west or anywhere in the country,” he said.

He assured that elections would hold as scheduled on Saturday in view of the fact that the citizenry still move around to carry out their daily endeavours without let or hindrances.
