APC insists on probing masterminds of Rivers Assembly bombing

Again, the Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has called on security agencies to probe the masterminds of the state Assembly complex’s bombing on October 29, 2023.

APC’s Rivers State Chairman, Tony Okocha, in a statement yesterday in Abuja, noted that the party’s position on the matter has been vindicated following the public revelation made by the former Rivers State Head of Service, Dr. George Nwaeke, on how the suspended Governor Siminalayi Fubara allegedly initiated and authored the bombing.

APC contended that as the number three man in the state, Nwaeke’s account of the bombing of the State Assembly complex cannot be hearsay since it was an eyewitness account.

Recall that Nwaeke had claimed that the governor directed his Chief of Staff, Edison Ehie, to attack the Assembly complex to prevent his impeachment by lawmakers loyal to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesome Wike.

Nwaeke also pointed out how he witnessed a cash handover to Ehie for the attack.

APC stressed that it remains the only visible and viable opposition political party in the state that has cemented the love for the party in the heart of well-meaning Rivers people as the voice of the voiceless and the hope for a better Rivers.

The party further argued that the revelations by Nwaeke have further positioned the APC as a political party with a high level of integrity and the hope of Rivers people for a viable alternative to produce the governor in 2027.

The party, therefore, called on relevant security agencies to get at the root cause of the matter and make such findings public. The APC stated that the verbal attacks staged against the resigned HoS will not deter it from playing the role of an opposition political party to function as a watchdog of society.
