Bandits attack Borno police station, kill, loot armoury
Suspected Boko Haram terrorists have attacked the Jakana police station in Borno State, killing two persons in the process. The insurgents also set ablaze two police and a Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) patrol vehicles in the early hours of yesterday.
Confirming the incident in a telephone interview in Maiduguri, Chairman of Konduga Local Council, Abbas Ali Abari said: “The insurgents burst from the Sambisa Forest and attacked our community and the police station.
“They also snatched several arms and ammunition from the police station’s armoury at 1:00am.” He stated that a police driver along with a female friend were killed in the fresh attack on the community, 40 kilometres east of Maiduguri, the state capital.
Abari added that the hoodlums engaged the military and police for about three hours before being overwhelmed at 3:00am. According to him, the terrorists fled into the forest through the Jakana-Damboa demarcated cattle route.
