With the 26 days already gone in the 71 days Big Brother Naija Season 8 All Stars reality show, and the housemates performing different tasks which they are required to complete and win some cash prizes and other rewards for themselves from the sponsors including headline sponsor, Moniepoint and category sponsor TECNO Mobile, an innovative technology brand with operations presence in over 70 countries and regions across five continents.

Tasks and presentations force housemates to come out of their shells and interact, as there may be bland moments if they only stay in their circles. The tasks and presentations allow for possibilities where people become friends after they connect during an activity or enemies because they clashed.

Apart from being educational, informative and exciting to watch, tasks are essential to a housemate’s journey. These tasks are assigned every Tuesday to Saturday from 4pm, where brands compete to show their presence and creativity.

Mondays Black Envelope Challenge: Every year, Big Brother introduces new twists to the show. This season, the mystery Big Brother also called Biggie, introduced a new spin to the usual Head of House (HoH) game with the Black Envelope Challenge, which sees the winner earn immunity from the week’s eviction.

Housemates are tasked by Biggie to search for the Black Envelope everywhere in the House except the Head of House room. Mercy Eke was the first All Stars contestant to see the keenly cherished Black Envelope with its content stating she has been immune from week one nomination.

Tuesdays and Wednesdays Diary Room: The diary room sessions which are held every Tuesday and Wednesday from 1pm plays a key role and affect the fan bases a housemate can gather. They are often emotional entries into housemates’ hearts where they either connect with Big Brother and the viewers or gather a group of haters.

Things, however, are different this year as the all-stars housemates already know what to expect from the diary room session. Many, if not all the housemates, use the diary room session as part of their strategic game plan. While some have and use it to warm their way into the hearts of viewers as faves, eliciting votes, others have been seen as the most annoying person during the sessions.

Thursdays Grill and Pool Party: This a mid-week reprieve from tasks and wager drama, as they let loose, show off their banging bodies in bikinis and swim trunks, sip and dip in the pool, try some hanky-panky to their heart’s content.

The parties are infamous for being the underlying cause of every formed ship, sex scandal, or triangle. It also makes for a very entertaining watch, as viewers of the show always forward to the parties every Thursday at 8pm.

Saturday Night Rave: Fun full like the Thursdays grill and pool parties, housemates and viewers also look forward to these rave nights which begin at 9pm. Since the housemates have very active lives in the real world, the Saturday night raves allow them to feel like they are getting the club experience with some of the biggest disc jockeys (DJs) within the country and occasional guest performance from wave making music artistes.

It is usually powered each week by respective brands like Guinness, Lords Dry Gin, Origin, and Smirnoff Ice, with TECNO mobile providing housemates’ smartphones to help capture their best moments during the gig.

Sunday Live Eviction Show: This is the most important of all the activities. Host Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, takes centre stage as he ‘scatters tables’, asking critical questions viewers want answers to. He takes fans on a recap of the week, and in most cases, sends home at least one housemate weekly, just as seen with Princess and Uriel who were evicted from the luxurious Biggie mansion penultimate Sunday and last Sunday respectively.

So far, the All Stars housemates have performed the following tasks: Guinness Nigeria Task, which was won by Mercy Eke, Soma, Cee-C, Venita and Ilebaye; 2Sure Task won by Seyi and Uriel; WAW Task won by Team Amazing, comprising of Cee-C, Cross, Pere, Soma, and Uriel; Munch it Task (undecided); Aguafina Padi Awards Task won by pair of Venita and Soma; Seyi and Doyin, and Frodd and Alex, while the Arla Dano Milk Task was won by Team Full Cream made up of Mercy Eke, Cross, Venita and Ike.

Sponsored brands, Biggie in his brief for the tasks, often outline specific words to be used by the housemates during their presentation, hence it’s promotional. Housemates are split into teams, after which they go their separate ways to get prepared for the task presentation.

Beyond the N120 million grand prize, housemates in this season are given the opportunity to win other prizes for themselves. It needs to be noted that the increased prize money has added an extra layer of intensity to the competition, driving housemates to push their limits and demonstrate their best skills to secure the coveted victory.

Adekunle, Doyin End Beef At ‘My Padi’ Award Night
Meanwhile, Adekunle and Doyin, two ex-housemates from the 2022 edition, have finally hash things out and hang up their long-standing differences as they put to end their bitter feud. It all comes after the duo from the Season 7 Level Up edition broke the ice and confronted the elephant in the room.

Doyin, who during the reunion, famously lambasted Adekunle over strife that defined their relationship while season lasted, said that she misunderstood Adekunle’s intentions. Adekunle on his part, during a conversation with Venita his love interest in the house now, had fessed up that he’d been keeping Doyin at arm’s length notwithstanding her attempts to reach out.

All that is in the past now, as the gag order was lifted. The emotional moment took place on Tuesday night during the Aquafina My Padi Awards Task. As a prerequisite for the task, the housemates were asked to pick one housemate they consider a good friend and say words of affirmation.

The male housemates were tasked to select a female housemate, while the female housemates picked a male housemate. They were paired with opposite gender with the exception of Ike and Kiddwaya who were paired together.

During the presentation, Doyin reflected on their strained relationship, and confessed to having misjudged the situation. With her surprising moment, the stylist gushed about Adekunle’s eloquence, before apologising for her part in their highly-publicised fallout.

She said, “I think this award is very befitting for this man, because when he speaks, he speaks with a good attitude; he hardly ever stutters. His communication skills are good that he was able to convince even the most dogged person, being myself, and finally made me realise that what I thought was his intentions were, were really not what they were. And I understood finally that it only came from a place of hurt, and a complete misunderstanding of vocabulary.”

These words left the housemates stunned, but Doyin was not done. “Because of this, I can say that I am genuinely sorry for the words that I used, from the bottom of my heart.”

The heartfelt moment marks a milestone in Adekunle and Doyin’s relationship, as they both hugged each other warmly. Their unexpected embrace was met with cheers and applause from their friends, who were shocked at their reconciliation. The heartwarming sight no doubt gives a sense of hope and optimism for the future of their friendship.

Adekunle and Doyin’s interaction with each other started in the Level Up season, where they shared similar spaces as Level 1 housemates. The two, however, fell out during the Level Up reunion, where words were said that caused a deep rift between them.

Doyin had during the heated exchange, described Adekunle as a “trifling human being who should be very much ashamed of himself.” As a result, the announcement of the former Level Up housemates muffled netizens on social media, who were curious about how they would navigate the shared space.

It needs be noted that up until Tuesday night task, when peace was worked out and the broken wall mended, the pair had been avoiding each other since the All Star season commenced four weeks ago.
