Delta State Police Command has confirmed the death of five persons when a boat capsized along the popular Bennet Island River in Warri South Local Government area of the state.

The spokesman of the State Police Command, SP Bright Edafe, who confirmed the death yesterday, said six persons were injured and still receiving treatment, 19 persons were rescued, and one was still missing

The Guardian gathered that the accident occurred on Monday night but the direction of the capsized boat was unknown at the time of filing this report.

Edafe said he is still waiting for a details report of the incident from the police in Warri.
