Bode George to Tinubu: Implement 2014 confab report in memory of Adebanjo, Clark

Former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Olabode George, has appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to implement the report of the 2014 National Conference in memory of the late Chief Ayo Adebanjo and Chief Edwin Clark.

Speaking at a briefing in Lagos on Friday, George stated that the two late elder statesmen made significant contributions to the conference debates, bringing their wealth of experience to bear on discussions that aimed to make Nigeria a better place for all.

According to George, implementing the report’s recommendations would help address defects in the 1999 Constitution, which has hindered Nigeria’s progress.  He stressed that implementing the report would be a fitting tribute to the legacies of Adebanjo and Clark, who fought for a better Nigeria.  He said: “Nigerians deserve to have the report of the 2014 conference, because God used the two elder statesmen to impact on us.

“Let the report of the 2014 confab be released in the memory of Chief Adebanjo and Chief Clark; it is when the report is released that  Nigeria will be at peace.”

George also addressed the current state of affairs in the PDP, assuring that the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting on May 27, 2025, would provide an opportunity for the party to discuss its challenges and resolve its differences.   He expressed confidence in the party’s strength and foundation, dismissing speculations about its demise.

“Those that want to bring the party to disrepute should sheath their swords and shut up. We will have the NEC meeting on May 27; all the elders of the party that are still alive would be present at the meeting.

“No organisation is without crisis, but what is important is the ability to resolve the differences. We should make sure we follow the party constitution. Those who  do not want to stay should go; those who want to stay should stay.

“At the meeting we will tell ourselves some home truth; enough is enough. It is either you are inside or outside,” George stated.  He called on President Tinubu to take bold steps to tackle the rising cases of kidnapping, banditry, and other security challenges facing the nation.

“If Nigeria could liberate other countries, why can’t we also liberate ourselves?” he queried.
