Borno: Six soldiers killed as troops repel Boko Haram attack in Ngamdu

Nigerian military forces successfully repelled an attempted Boko Haram attack on their position in Ngamdu community in Borno State on 10 October 2025, though six soldiers were killed and six others wounded in the engagement.

According to a field report, the insurgents launched the assault in three waves, seeking to infiltrate the Ngamdu camp. In response, a combined reinforcement team comprising three Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected vehicles (MRAPs) and three gun trucks was dispatched to support the troops.

The reinforcements, however, encountered an improvised explosive device (IED) en route, which was followed by an ambush and a drone attack along the Benisheikh–Ngamdu axis, particularly between Tamsu Ukwu and Makinta Kuriri.

During the confrontation, one MRAP was destroyed by fire, four MRAP tyres and four gun truck tyres were damaged. While the exact number of Boko Haram casualties remains unconfirmed, blood stains were observed at the site, suggesting losses among the insurgents.

Military sources confirmed that the troops maintained their positions and successfully prevented the insurgents from entering the Ngamdu camp. They added that routes previously used by the terrorists are currently under exploitation by security forces to prevent further attacks and to track retreating elements.

The engagement underscores the persistent threat posed by Boko Haram in the region and the challenges faced by Nigerian troops in maintaining security along strategic northern corridors.
