Bowen to oversee Liberian varsity
BOWEN University Iwo, Osun State, has been appointed to mentor and midwife the recently established Tolbert William University, Liberia.
The Baptist private institution based in Liberia was named after the late Liberian statesman and son of former president of the country.
In a statement, yesterday, the Vice Chancellor of Bowen, Prof. Joshua Ogunwole, announced that the global General Secretary of World Baptist Alliance, Rev. Elijah Brown, would pay a two-day working visit to the university from tomorrow.
According to the statement, during the visit, Brown would carry out inspection of some legacy projects executed by the VC. He is also expected to visit the multi-million naira Aerospace Centre, the only one in the Equatorial World (Niger-BEAR) sited in the university and was recently commissioned by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.
As part of efforts to carry out the mentoring, Ogunwole disclosed that his Deputy Vice Chancellor, Prof. Oluwatosin Atobatele, was already on a 10-day working visit to the Liberian university, a follow-up visit to the one by Ogunwole.
The VC also revealed that aside from mentorship to Tolbert William University, Bowen was also partnering other Baptist private universities in other African countries, particularly in the area of programmes and curriculum development, capacity building as well as scholarship.
