Boys’ Brigade Lagos Council elects Eke as president

The Boys’ Brigade, Lagos council, has elected Urum Kalu Eke as its eighth President for his unwavering commitment and leadership within the Boy’s Brigade, Nigeria.

The investiture ceremony, which took place, at the weekend, at the Presbyterian Church of Nigeria (PCN) in Lekki, Lagos, also witnessed the investiture of other office bearers.

Eke, who was the Group Managing Director of First Bank Holdings Plc and currently the Chairman of the Board of Governors, Institute of Directors Centre for Corporate Governance (IoDCCG), said that his investiture was a new dispensation and the beginning of an era that would transform not just the boys but also the families across the state.

“I promise to work for the upliftment of the Boys’ Brigade, Nigeria and to support the Lagos State Council in the upbringing of boys spiritually, morally, financially and to do all within my power to help and encourage officers in their task of advancing Christ’s kingdom among boys,” Eke said.

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who was represented by the state’s Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Mobolaji Ogunlende, stated that his administration remains committed to supporting the Boys Brigade and its mission to nurture the younger generation to become future leaders.

He applauded the contribution of the community to teaching young boys the importance of godly behaviours.

According to him, “As a government, I want to assure you that we will support you. We acknowledge your efforts thus far. We will lend a hand of support directly or indirectly so you can continue to do that job you have been doing selflessly.

“Just to have a better society where we can nurture the boys into proper men. We are fully ready to collaborate and this government has set up an economic agenda where youths, women, and the challenged in the society are part of the cardinal point in our administration.”

“I am very confident that under Eke’s watch, the Boy’s Brigade will continually grow in stature and influence, building on this remarkable heritage.”

The Resident Minister of PCN Lekki parish, Rt. Rev. Solomon Okoro congratulated Eke on his appointment, admonishing him to serve in humility and lift others along with him.

Reverend Okoro emphasized that Eke is the first Presbyterian Church member in history to be appointed as president of Lagos state council.
