British Council, in partnership with King’s Trust International as technical partner and NerdzFactory Company Limited as delivery partner, is set to host the highly anticipated Pitch Competition and Final Event of the Youth Sustainable Enterprise Challenge Programme in Ogun State. The event is set to hold at bH3 Events Centre. Abeokuta on September 9, 2025.
The grand finale marks the culmination of weeks of intensive enterprise development, mentorship, and hands-on business training for 80 young entrepreneurs, aged 18 to 35 in Abeokuta, Ogun State. Designed to empower aspiring and early-stage business owners, the Youth Sustainable Enterprise Challenge equips participants with the skills, knowledge, and confidence needed to build sustainable ventures. A deliberate focus on inclusion has ensured that women and persons living with disabilities are actively represented in this edition.
Following weeks of training and pre-pitch sessions, 16 finalists have emerged to showcase their innovative business ideas before a distinguished panel of judges. These entrepreneurs will pitch their ventures at the final event and pitch competition scheduled for Tuesday, 9th September 2025, in Ogun State. At the close of the competition, eight winners will be awarded seed grants and tailored mentorship to accelerate the growth of their businesses and drive sustainable impact.
Speaking on the significance of the event, Ade Olowojoba, Founding Partner at NerdzFactory Company, said: “The Pitch Competition and Final Event mark more than the close of a programme; they celebrate the courage, innovation, and determination of Ogun’s young entrepreneurs. With the training and support provided through the Youth Sustainable Enterprise Challenge, these individuals are better positioned to transform their ideas into thriving enterprises that contribute to inclusive growth and sustainable development across Ogun State and beyond.”
Now in its third edition with NerdzFactory Company, the Youth Sustainable Enterprise Challenge is funded by the British Council as part of its Youth Connect Global, which seeks to provide positive pathways for young people worldwide through entrepreneurship, employability, and active citizenship. While earlier editions of the Challenge were delivered in Lagos, successfully training more than 130 young people, many of whom have since launched viable businesses or secured meaningful employment, this edition represents a strategic expansion to Ogun State, widening the programme’s impact and reach.
The final event will convene key stakeholders including representatives from the British Council, King’s Trust International, state government officials, business leaders, and community influencers. More than a competition, it is a celebration of the transformative power of enterprise development, underscoring NerdzFactory Company’s commitment to advancing human capital, fostering innovation, and driving economic growth through youth entrepreneurship.
