Ejike-MbakaPRESIDENT Muhammadu Buhari has described the 20 years of priesthood of the famous Catholic priest, Fr. Ejike Mbaka of the Enugu Adoration Centre (EAC) as productive to humanity and commended his “extraordinary intrepidity” and “remarkable patriotism.”

In a statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, Buhari described Mbaka as “a great priest who was not afraid to speak truth to power, even at the cost of his own life or being hated by leaders in power.”

According to Buhari, Mbaka is a remarkable example that religious leaders are the conscience and moral compass of the society.

He noted: “Though honest opinions attract hostility from leaders detached from reality, history would be kind to Fr. Mbaka for courageously speaking truth to power, even at great risks.

He prayed God to grant the priest good health, long life and wisdom in the service of humanity, adding that he is a fountain of inspiration to all Nigerians.

Mbaka, against the disposition of the Catholic Church, had given what he called divine revelation and comments in favour of Buhari’s presidential bid during the campaigns, which drew flaks from his Catholic community and others across the nation.
