Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari is seeking the House of Representatives’s approval for a loan of $5.5 billion (about two trillion naira), the speaker of the house said on Thursday.

Femi Gbajabiamila, the speaker, during the plenary session said the federal government wants to use the funds for the federal government’s priority projects and to support the response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

He also said part of it will be used to fund the revised 2020 budget, and to support the state governments.
