The Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, has appointed a technocrat and experienced manager, Dr. Sai’d Alkali Kori, as the Chairman, Nigeria Food Corporation, to drive the state’s agricultural industry.
Kori, a Chairman/GCEO Thinklab Group Limited, was Special Adviser to the Governor and previously the Technical Advisor to Lake Chad Basin Governors Forum. Kori had earlier headed the Yobe Fertiliser Blending Company, Gujba.
However, Prof. Almuhaji Sherrif, Managing Director of Yobe Microfinance Bank, Damaturu, has described the appointment as well-deserved, expressing confidence that the state’s food production and processing is being headed by a technocrat and committed manager.
In a statement congratulating Kori, Sheriff, on behalf of the Bank, said that the state’s industrial and economic revitalisation is on the right path. “His appointment underscores the effort to overhaul the agro-food industrial ecosystem.
“His proven exceptional leadership, astute business acumen, and unwavering dedication to the development of Yobe State. His record as a highly successful entrepreneur, the visionary behind the multi-million dollar Thinklab Group Limited, and Chairman of Fulus Capital Limited, made him the outstanding and natural choice for this critical assignment,” he said.
He expressed confidence that under Kori’s strategic guidance, “this consolidated corporation will achieve unprecedented synergy, operational excellence, and make a significant contribution to the agricultural prosperity and food security of our dear state.”
The appointment also involves overseeing the affairs of the six key subsidiaries under the NFC: Nguru Oil Mills Limited, Yobe Flour and Feeds Mills Company Limited, Wheat Flour Global Mills Company Limited, Yobe State Fertiliser Blending Company, Gujba Ltd, and Damaturu Modern Abattoir Ltd.
