‘Cancelling, Rescinding Results In Abia Is Wrong’
CHAIRMAN of Abia State chapter of the PDP Senator Emma Nwaka has told journalists that his party was irked by the earlier purported cancellation of the elections held last Saturday in Obingwa, Osisioma and Isiala Ngwa North Local Council Areas by the state Returning Officer (RO), Professor Benjamin Ozumba, saying that by so doing the RO over stepped his bounds.
He described the three councils as “areas where my party, PDP was clearly in the lead and naturally we protested on the ground that the RO had over stepped his bounds.”
According to the address he read to the journalists, Nwaka stated that the duty of the RO is clearly set out in Section 69 of the Electoral Act 2010 (as amended).
He added that the only body established by the laws to interfere after the RO has concluded his assignment is the Election Tribunal. “At the time the RO reversed himself, he had not declared any person winner. The person authorized by law to announce results is the Presiding Officer.”

If this was exactly what happened, why would the returning officer take laws into his hand to cancell the election. Look at the confusion, tention and stress he has caused the people of Abia state. I hope it is resolved peacefully. We do not want a drop of blood if there was none between Buhari and Jona what then are we fighting for. Both parties can work together for the sake of the people in the state and move on.
We will review and take appropriate action.
