• Commission Recruits Over 30,000 Adhoc Staff

Delta State traditional rulers, yesterday, assured of working in collaboration with the National Population Commission (NPC) for the conduct of accurate and reliable 2023 Population and Housing Census across the 25 councils of the state.

Speaking at the launch of the online e-recruitment in Asaba, the State capital, Second Vice Chairman, Delta State Council of Traditional Rulers, Obi Kikachukwu, Obi of Ubulu-Nno, said the traditional rulers were committed to the success of the census.

Kikachukwu said: “The census is our cross, and we believe that it must get to the grassroots, where everyone would be counted. Census is meant for the development of the state.”

The Federal Commissioner of NPC in Delta State, Chief Richard Odibo, disclosed that over 30,000 adhoc staff would be engaged for the exercise. Odibo, while displaying e-recruitment form, said that the commission’s task was to conduct accurate and reliable census, hence “we are looking for capable hands to carry out the jobs. ”

The categories in the online e-recruitment include facilitators, training centre administrators, data quality managers, supervisors, enumerators, monitoring and evaluation officers, centre managers and data quality assistants.

Odibo said the launch marked the beginning of the online e-recruitment that would serve as the bulk of personnel for the exercise, adding that they would be drawn from the locations where they reside.

He said this would take care of the logistics of moving personnel across the state during the exercise. He advised candidates to register within their place of residence so as to increase their chances of getting to work in their neighbourhood, noting that the successful ones would be posted to training centres in their indicated council of residence.
