Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, has paid the December salaries and pensions to serving and retired workers in the state.

According to him, the early payment of salaries and pensions was to provide financial ease for residents to prepare for the festive season.

The payments were made in a statement yesterday (Saturday) in Maiduguri by the spokesman to the governor, Dauda Iliya.

He said that Zulum was among the first governors to implement the N70,000 minimum wage in the country.

Additionally, he noted that the early payments of salaries and pensions foster inclusiveness for a seamless yuletide.

He said, “Zulum directed, as usual, that no affected Christians, Muslims, and others should waste their time without feeling a sense of belonging during the festivities in the state.”

He said that the multi-inclusivity and socio-cultural bonding have been present among the peace-loving people of Borno State.

Iliya added, “Governor Zulum has done it again, as the December 2024 credit alerts for workers’ salaries are hitting their bank accounts.”

Iliya added that during the presentation of the N585 billion budget to the State House of Assembly, Zulum pledged to improve workers’ welfare amid economic hardships.

Besides workers’ welfare, he stated: “The governor will upgrade the state’s salary payment system, implement the new N72,000 minimum wage, and pay outstanding gratuities of deceased workers.”

Zulum also acknowledged the positive impact of President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda on the lives of people in the state.
