The management of Air Peace Airlines has stressed that its insistence on better welfare packages for staff, religious observance of routine checks and maintenance of aircraft in its fleet form the cardinal points of its operational style.

In a statement made available to journalists, weekend, the airline explained that the success and client loyalty recorded by Air Peace within its short period of existence are traceable to those cardinal objectives of staff reward and recognition along with periodic technical review of its fleet.
The statement noted that immediately the chairman of the airline, Mr. Allen Onyema, was granted the Air Operators Certificate, (AOC) in September last year, he set out the major driving principles that have been guiding Air Peace.

“Part of these critical issues that gave us the edge is the large premium we place on staff welfare. Next to that is that, aircraft must be put in top shape to meet all safety standards as well as avoid inconveniences to passengers caused by delays and cancellation of flights. Above all, we ensure that only good aircrafts are procured for our operations,” the statement added.

While dismissing allegations in some quarters that it was poaching the pilots of other airlines, the Air Peace boss said that if any pilot is poached it makes a statement about the degree of job satisfaction and welfare s/he enjoys, stressing that it is a normal industry practice for staff to seek employment in firms where their consideration for job security, welfare and capacity enhancement are guaranteed.

Air Peace added: “Our competitors seem to suggest that Air Peace ambushes or abducts pilots in an unethical manner; the truth of the matter remains that when we advertise for vacant positions, we look out for qualification, integrity and capacity to meet set targets without discrimination against ethnic, religious or past organisations the prospective employees had worked for.”

The statement noted that in today’s highly competitive markets, only organisations that develop forward looking solutions excel, adding that Air Peace is constantly looking for ways to better its records by setting higher standards of business practices.

“In the coming year, Air Peace hopes to scale up its operational schemes in line with international best practices,” the statement said adding that the airline remains committed to job satisfaction of its workers as well as the safety and comfort of its passengers.

The Airline, in conjunction with Foundation for Ethnic Harmony in Nigeria (FEHN), has announced plans to spend over N200m to train the newly crowned Miss Nigeria, Leesi Peter Vigboro, and others on conflict resolution.

Receiving the beauty queen in his office, the Chairman, AirPeace and FEHN, Mr. Allen Onyema, said: “We will sponsor the queen to Emory University, Atlanta, at the Martin Luther King Center, for training on non-violence and conflict management, under the Tutorship of Dr. Benard Lafayette Jnr at the kings Centre, to bring peace to Nigerian Youths.”
