A Lagos Magistrate’s Court sitting in Ogba, Ikeja, yesterday, remanded a 30-year old Nyime Nbride in Kirikiri Correctional Centre for allegedly defiling his 12-year-old biological daughter.
   
Chief Magistrate, E. Kubeinje made the remand order, following the charge filed by the Police against Nbride, for alleged defilement, sexual assault and indecent treatment of the child.
   
The Chief Magistrate, who did not take the defendant’s plea for want of jurisdiction, ordered the police to return the case file to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) and adjourned to November 13, 2022 for mention.
   
The police prosecutor, Kehinde Ajayi, had informed the court that the defendant, who lives at Ajegunle Street, Ilupeju, Lagos, allegedly committed the offence on February 22, 2022.
 
The counsel told the court that the girl’s mother reported the case to the police.
 
According to the prosecutor, the survivor also confirmed that her father molested her more than once in his room.
   
Also, the prosecutor said the offence contravenes the provisions of Sections 135, 137 and 261 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
