The Kano/Jigawa Command of the Nigerian Customs Service (NCS) on Thursday received a morale boost with the promotion and decoration of not fewer than 210 senior cadre officers to the next ranks.

Out of the total number of affected officers, three were promoted from Deputy Comptroller of Customs to full rank of Comptroller of Customs. Similarly, seven Chief Superintendent of Customs got their promotion to the rank of Assistant Comptroller of Customs.

Other lower ranks officers were migrated from their former cadre of Deputy Superintendent of Customs to Superintendent of Customs.

Speaking at the decoration ceremony held at the command headquarters in Kano, the Command’s Controller, Comptroller Muhammad Umar, charged the officers to rededicate themselves to work to justify their new ranks.

At a ceremony witnessed by heads of military formations, police and other paramilitary agencies in Kano, Comptroller Umar told the officers that much is expected from them hence the need to brace up for the task ahead.

According to him, “We all know that their is reward for hardwork. And the reward is what we are witnessing here today as some officers were promoted to their new ranks.

“The Nigerian Customs Service under the leadership of Col. Hameed Ali (Retd) and the Nigeria Customs Board have decided to promote these officers for their hard work and dedication to duty.

“The promotion is to prepare you for higher responsibility. And the promotion can only be justified by dedicating yourself more to duties. To whom much is given, much is expected.

“At this juncture, I enjoin you to rededicate yourself to service to your fatherland. You need to show the management that you are fit for the promotion,” Comptroller Umar noted.
