Dangiwa demands better Shelter Afrique to deliver affordable housing

Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Ahmed Dangiwa

Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Ahmed Dangiwa, yesterday, urged stakeholders to strengthen Shelter Afrique for rapid and affordable housing delivery in Africa.

Dangiwa, who was chairman of the organisation’s 42nd Annual General Meeting (AGM) Bureau, made the appeal at its 2023 Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) in Algiers, Algeria.

He underscored the importance of shareholders’ unity and commitment to the company’s mission of providing affordable housing solutions to shape the future of Africa.

The minister appreciated the board and management team for navigating the organisation towards growth, profitability and impactful housing on the continent.

He thanked all ministers and shareholders for their commitment, willingness to support reforms and various contributions geared at consolidating the company’s prime position in the delivery of affordable housing.

Dangiwa applauded their collective resolve to address Africa’s housing challenges and their shared commitment to the people they serve. He observed that there has been substantial progress in the revision of the company’s statutes, engagement of a reputable law firm and several bilateral and multilateral reviews, resulting in broader shareholders’ consensus on major issues.

The minister, therefore, implored the shareholders to embrace objectivity, reason and compromise during discussions, with focus on a better company.
