Daniel, Aregbesola, Mimiko visit Oba Ladoja

Former governors of Ogun, Osun, and Ondo States — Senator Gbenga Daniel, Rauf Aregbesola, and Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, respectively — have described the Olubadan-designate, Oba Rasidi Ladoja, as a formidable pillar in both the business and political sectors.

During their separate visits to Ladoja at his Bodija residence in Ibadan on Monday, the trio agreed that his ascension as the next Olubadan would transform the traditional institution not only in Oyo State but across the country.

The former governors noted that Oba Ladoja had made his mark as a former governor of Oyo State and as a former senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

In his remarks, Daniel admitted that Ladoja’s wealth of experience would be invaluable in the comity of traditional rulers in Nigeria.

According to him, “Oba Ladoja is expected to provide the desired leadership because of his maturity and experience in the comity of Obas in the country. The entire nation is looking up to him to bring his wealth of experience to bear in his new assignment as a traditional ruler.”

On his part, Mimiko said, “We have come here because the Olubadan-designate is our fan. We admire his way of life as well as his principles. Ladoja has demonstrated effective leadership qualities as a former governor and senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. His wealth of experience, as well as his maturity, will be brought to bear in his new assignment.”

Aregbesola, nonetheless, noted that his visit was not politically motivated but simply to pay homage to a highly revered traditional ruler.

“I am not here for any political reasons but to pay homage to Oba Ladoja and to wish him a successful reign as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland,” he said.
