Delta Assembly urges MDAs to work within budgetary allocations
The Delta House of Assembly Committee on Information has advised Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) to work within their budgetary allocations.
The Chairman House Committee on Information, Mr Emeka Nwaobi stated this during the budget defence meeting with the State Ministry of Information and its parastatals on Wednesday in Asaba.
Nwaobi, who is also the Majority Leader of the assembly, said that every money spent by the state government must be properly documented and accounted for.
He stressed that the state government was committed to ensuring that the people of the state got value for money spent.
The chairman warned the MDAs against all forms of expenditure without due approval.
In an interview with newsmen, the State Commissioner for Information, Dr Ifeanyi Osuoza commended the committee for their support and resilience in ensuring that the Ministry of Information and its parastatals excel.
Osuoza expressed optimism that the ministry and its parastatals would experience a robust impact, especially in the area of Information, Communication Technologies (ICT).
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the management of the State Broadcasting Services (Asaba and Warri), the State Publishing Press; the Pointer News Paper also appeared before the committee for their budget defence.
