Diri inaugurates Germany-funded UNODC projects In Bayelsa community

Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa State, yesterday, inaugurated two projects executed by the United Nations Office on Drug and Crime (UNODC), which were funded by the German government.

The projects, executed in Otuan Community, in Southern Ijaw Council, included a police post and a youth development centre.

The projects also included provision of a cassava processing equipment.

Diri, in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Daniel Alabrah, commended the German government and UNODC for partnering his administration on crime prevention and promoting community development.

He said the projects indicated that the collaboration between the state government and international development partners had yielded positive results.

The governor expressed appreciation to international development partners for working with the state government, stressing that prevention is the best way to control crime.

Diri said: “I have engaged with various embassies in Nigeria. I have engaged with the United Nations (UN) and the European Union (EU) in Nigeria. What you have witnessed today is part of efforts we have made. I am glad it has yielded result.”
