Da-Amakiri Tubo, Alhaji Mujahid Abubakr Dokubo-Asari, the Amanyanabo of The Source (Elem Kalabari), Dabaye Amakiri 1, has called on professionals, elites, and wealthy individuals in both the diaspora and Nigeria to return home and invest in the Kalabari Kingdom.
He made this appeal in his New Year goodwill message addressed to monarchs, chiefs, elites, and the general populace of the Kalabari Kingdom, as well as Kalabaris living abroad.
“Our people need to come back home to build houses here instead of buying land in other communities. I urge my fellow Kalabari brothers and sisters worldwide to set up businesses here that will boost the economy of the Kalabari Kingdom and provide jobs for our people.
“Our region is rich in oil and gas, with opportunities in marine transportation. There are significant possibilities in agriculture, tourism development, and many other avenues for viable investments,” the statement read.
Dokubo-Asari emphasised the importance of unity and peaceful coexistence among all Kalabari communities, noting that these values are crucial for fostering development and progress.
Renowned for his decades-long advocacy for resource control, environmental conservation, and the fight against oppression in the Niger Delta, Dokubo-Asari also addressed the youth, urging them to reject cultism and violent associations that harm the community.
Instead, he encouraged them to engage in peaceful and constructive activities that contribute to communal well-being.
“As the Amanyanabo of The Source (Elem Kalabari), I recommit myself to the promotion, preservation, and growth of all that pertains to Kalabari, as I have done for over 20 years,” Dokubo-Asari concluded.
