The Lagos State Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has announced its plan to deploy 3,500 personnel in major corridors of the metropolis for safety during the Easter celebration.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the Sector Commander, Babatunde Farinloye, disclosed this, yesterday, in a statement signed by the Public Education Officer of the Command, Olabisi Sonusi.

Farinloye said that special patrol operations would be conducted between Friday and Tuesday, mostly around the Lagos-Ibadan, Lekki-Epe, Lagos-Abeokuta, Oshodi-Apapa and Lagos-Badagry corridors.

He added that apart from the 3,500 personnel, 45 patrol vehicles, three ambulances, 11 power bikes and three heavy-duty towing trucks would also be deployed.

According to him, the personnel will ensure the free flow of traffic, check speed violations, dangerous driving, use of phones while driving, overloading and other life-threatening infractions.

He said that they would also attend promptly to emergencies.

Farinloye, who stated that the command would carry out aggressive public enlightenment at major motor parks and worship centres, said that the corps would work with the Nigeria Police and other agencies in case of any emergency.

He, however, expressed optimism that motorists would cooperate with traffic managers on the roads to reduce crashes to the barest minimum.

He, therefore, admonished the motoring public to make use of the FRSC toll-free number (122) in case of emergencies during their journeys.
