Enugu deputy governor partners Foundation to fight Breast cancer

The deputy governor of Enugu State, Mrs. Cecilia Ezeilo, has affirmed her readiness to assist the “Breast Care Foundation” in actualising its community-based fight against breast cancer in the state.

He deputy governor gave this assurance in an address at Saint Mulumba Catholic Church, New Haven, Enugu during the fund raising and breast cancer outreach/enlightenment campaign organised by the foundation.

“I want to propose that every local government first lady of Enugu State collects at least 500 copies of the film on breast cancer prevention and cure to be distributed to their people so that all those who could not attend this programme would see that and cue in”, she stated on the occasion.

She, therefore, advocated for sensitization to be intensified on prevention, pointing out that the silent killer disease respects no one.

Earlier in his address, the President of the Breast Cancer Care Foundation, Mr. Osita Agha, noted that a close look at the foundation activities would reveal that, it is to educate, enlighten and create awareness about breast cancer.

Agha added that there are people who do not know anything about breast cancer, saying that, the only cure for this silent killer disease is early detection and it would be cured immediately when the person involved goes to hospital.

In their separate remarks, the Commissioner for Health, Delta State, Dr. Nicholas Azinge, Dr. Kenneth Nwankwo of Breast Cancer Unit, University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital, Enugu, highlighted facts about breast cancer and advised people to go to hospital whenever they noticed lump on their breasts, adding that monthly checks must be done by everyone.
